A 3-day President's Day weekend was the perfect way to start the camping season. And we returned to our old-standby: Cliffs of the Neuse State Park. We didn't arrive until late in the afternoon (Molly is taking pottery classes), but we were set up and relaxing in time for dinner.
And for dinner, we tried something new: Dutch oven pizza. We've made flat bread pizzas in the past, but using the Dutch oven was new — and a huge success.
Monday was all about nothing. Molly's new hammock was a huge success (even though there were significantly few hammock trees in our spot (#28). We had earnest plans to hike around the lake before lunch, but those plans quickly turned into a whole lotta sitting around the campfire instead.
Dinner that night was Philly cheesesteak sandwiches (on our new grill) and then watching the stars while sitting at the campfire.... all while admiring all of our new lights. It rained overnight, so Roxy was still mostly wet when we packed up the next morning.
All in all, a great start to the 2023 camping season!
