Beach Bound!

Monday February 22, 2021

A four-night trip to Carolina Beach State Park.... in Feb? It was the perfect way to start the season & to fully test our black and gray water capacities! We arrived on Sunday to cold, gloomy, overcast conditions. Roxy's awning and heater worked perfectly, though!

On Monday we explored Fort Fisher and walked along the beach and Carolina Beach boardwalk. Since the weather was sorta iffy, we mostly hung out at the campground. Dinner was a delicious Dutch-oven pot pie that we half-baked in Roxy's oven due to the rain.

Tuesday was a perfect day — sunny and temperatures in the mid 60s. We both spent some quality hammock time, and hiked throughout the park. We discovered that our hike wasn't an actual loop, but luckily the weather was perfect and the trail was flat!

Hammock time!

For Wednesday, Molly found a hidden gem... the Coquina Rocks of Kure Beach — truly fascinating. April had more fun digging in the sand, but we thought the outcrops were very cool. Dinner that night was Dutch-oven Jambalaya over the coals.... another 4-star masterpiece.

We spent a leisurely Thursday morning chatting with our neighbors and biking around the campground before packing up and heading home.
