This month's trip took us to Flanner's Beach in the Croatan National Forest. We had a really deep, wooded spot that was perfectly angled, allowing for another flawless back-in!
No water on site, so we filled up our tank at a nearby spigot. Also, there was no 30amp connector at the site — good thing we had our 50-to-30 converter!
The weather was PERFECT — daytime in low 70s and at night there was just enough chill to need the fire. The was a nice (paved) trail around the campsite that was also quite bike-able. And on Sunday, we took a more adventurous hike in the woods. Meals were easy, but delicious: hamburgers and fire-iron cheese steaks.
Two things to note:
- We used the screen house (because we lost our awning last trip) but didn't have any instructions. Only minor cursing ensued. Note to self: black poles go in the DARK colored sleeves, tan holes in the LIGHT colored sleeves.
- A male cardinal must have had a nest nearby. He spent the entire weekend attacking the windows on Roxy and Rusty.
