Welcome to the world of RV Resorts

Sunday March 12, 2017

OMG. We went to an "RV Resort."

  1. This activity is for people older than we
  2. Four Oaks, NC does not constitute a "destination"
  3. IT FUCKING SNOWED

OK friends. For real-realsies, this was one weird weekend.

A couple of weeks ago, there was a decent-sized RV Show at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Being "newbies," we went. There, we met some folks from the Raleigh Roadrunners Camping Club and we got all tickled.

We got acquainted via phone and email, and as it turns out, their next Camping Club Outing was scheduled for Four Oaks, NC... about 12 miles from our house.

So, why not?!?! We went.

We learned that April can probably be trusted to not eat the camper.

We learned that "RV Resorts" might be generally lame and that they're definately NOT state parks.

We learned that most of the Raleigh Roadrunners are at least 20 years older than we are.

We learned that Roxy really is little (but I still want to live in her!)

We learned that half-frozen blackwater = Poop Slurpee.

And, there was a custom-made marble carrier.

There was not:

  • A forest
  • A campfire dinner
    Or lunch
    Or breakfast
  • A nighttime campfire at all
  • Anything... ANYTHING to do during the day.
We ended up running back to the house to retrieve April's meds and underwear for me.

The people were really kind, but the experience, overall, wasn't really "camping." In fact, dinner Saturday night was at a restaurant called Holt Lake BBQ. Who goes camping to eat at a restaurant?!?

But! The dog was great and Roxy was great and I suppose Rick didn't hate playing marbles. But I don't think we'll be joining the Roadrunners officially.
